To give a short recap at the beginning of my post, The Met Gala is an annual invitation only event made to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in NYC, this gala is hosted by Vogue and selected celebrities this year the eclectic mix consisted of Vogue’s Anna Wintour, and co-chairs; Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, and Serena Williams. This years theme, in which we will get into below, was “Camp: Notes on Fashion”.

Favorites: Outfit Details

Camp; could be defined as, a sensibility of irony and non conformance and for that reason, you can incorporate it into a potentially ripe and resonant topic for today's social and political climate.
Camp, can be considered a characteristic that can be found in every extreme corner of our reality. From the dangerous consequences of climate change, to the bold over abundances of capitalism, and the chaos of politics (not only in the USA but in the world), there's almost too much to react to with irony these days, making the topic of camp in essence an embarrassment of riches.
For those curious on the actual history behind, “Camp: Notes on Fashion, it was named in reference to Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay “Notes on Camp”.

In an industry that succeeds on statement pieces, beating the latest trends and still keeping a unique presence, we mostly see contemporary fashion brands and designers, bringing “camp” to mainly the luxury market and to a pop-influenced demographic. Some excellent examples of this can be, Demna Gvasalia who rose to fame with Vetements and now the head of Balenciaga,  she has designed perfect examples in her past collections for both brands, having turned Internet-driven irony into high art, with his 2016 collections featuring logos ranging from DHL and Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign, and a leather weekend bag aping Ikea's 99-cent Frakta shopper.
Other recognizable examples are the works of Moschino then and today, under Jeremy Scott's playful eye, which has had sent sartorial interpretations of McDonalds, Spongebob Squarepants, and Barbie down the runway, not to mention even popular cleaning supplies like “Windex”.

Now, with no more hesitation, I’d like to share with you the most iconic pieces, that made their way through the 2019 Met Gala pink Carpet. Please comment below on those you liked most or took your attention!
